How to stream on Kick
A complete guide for getting started on Kick.com
Kick, the exciting newcomer in the world of streaming platforms, has been gaining traction rapidly. With its attractive 95/5 revenue split for streamers, a more flexible approach, and reports of enhanced reach for streamers, it's becoming the preferred choice. Whether you're a seasoned streamer or just starting out, this comprehensive guide will lead you through the process of streaming on Kick, helping you set up your first stream in no time.
Signing Up
To begin your streaming journey on Kick, the first step is creating your Kick account. Head over to Kick.com and click on the "Sign Up" button located in the top right corner.
Customizing your Account
Chances are you'd like to personalize your profile with a new profile picture, a description, social links, and other unique details. All of these can be customized in the "Settings" tab, which is accessible from your profile located at the top right of the page.
You'll find an array of options to customize your profile. It's highly recommended to fill out as many of these fields as possible since they will be displayed on your profile and are often the first things viewers see. Keep in mind that you can always revisit this section later to make additions or changes.
Configuring the Stream
Linking your streaming software, whether it's OBS, Streamlabs, or any other, to Kick is a straightforward process. Start by opening the "Stream Key" section within your Kick settings, located just below the "Profile" tab. Here, you'll find your stream URL and stream key.
Now, open your chosen streaming software, such as OBS, navigate to the settings, and go to the "Stream" settings page. Currently, Kick might not be listed as a recognized streaming platform in OBS, so you'll need to choose the custom service option. Paste your stream URL as the server and your stream key as the stream key. Save your settings, and you should be good to go.
For those interested in configuring more advanced aspects of their stream, it's important to note that Kick has a maximum resolution of 1920x1080, a limit of 8000kbps, and supports up to 60fps. If your stream settings exceed these limitations, you might encounter errors or put unnecessary strain on your stream.
Setting up KickBot
Many streamers seek to enhance their streams with widgets, alerts, overlays, and interactive features. While options are somewhat limited at the moment, KickBot offers a comprehensive solution. KickBot simplifies the process of adding elements like a chat widget to your stream and boasts innovative features such as AI TTS (Text-to-Speech) and a custom !clip command to engage your viewers effectively.
